Remembering the Martyrs...Mumbai Terror Attack 26/11
Hatred lies in every nook.
Like petals of withered flowers;
Darkness envelopes Mumbai for 59 hours.
Tears devoid of all pain...
These clouds refuse to rain!
Beautiful eyes veiled in hate...
Love that can only suffocate!
[Hotel Taj Mahal; Picture clicked by Anukriti Sharma]
Death instead is chosen...
Terrorists attack Oberoi Trident and Taj Mahal Hotel,
Helpless people lifelessly bid the world farewell!
Nariman House, Vile Parle, Napean Sea Road...
Under the sieges of bombings explode...
Cama Hospital, Leopold Cafe, Mazgaon, CST...
Broken walls and struggling lives form a deadened debris!
[Cafe Leopold, Colaba; Clicked by Anukriti Sharma]
Thousands injured, hundreds dead...
Dead bodies form a human pyramid!
The innocent have died...
Leaving their shadows behind!
The bodies need a place to bury...
Bullets and bombings consumes them in fury!
Their ashes are gathered and collected...
Though their souls are eternally rejected!
Hatred, anger, greed and desire...
Ignites in terrorists a corrupt fire!

Karkare, Kamte, Salaskar...martyrs of the attack...
Can anything ever bring their lives back?
Uniformed men, civilians and hotel staff fight,
Against the hatred that these terrorists ignite...
NSG commandos, ATS officials and policemen,
Fight for our lives against those ''Ten''!
[The Ten Terrorists; Picture Credit: Internet]
Terrorists, LeT and Kasab still live on...
Though Unnikrishnan is dead and gone!
No place to love, no place to live in,
Life itself has become a sin!
Death instead finds solace...
Defaced forever is our face!
[CST devastated after the attack, Picture Credit: Internet]
Faces splattered with blood...
War has found a New World!
Shards of old glass bangles,
This world lies in tangles!
Abandoned streets, Stinking little alleys...
Terrorism now lies beyond the valleys!
[Bullet Shot, Leopold Cafe, Clicked by Anukriti Sharma]
Chaos, crime and confusion...
Lack of cultural diffusion!
The sea has turned eternally red!
Every God is lost and dead.

indeed a true tribute to the martyrs :) ..superbly written anu :)
Excellent poem. Very poignant.
A wonderful tribute to our real heros and martyrs.
Jai Hind!
Don't take it other way but your post really scrubbed that year old yet fresh wound.
I will say, keep this flame burning, leave this wound uncured, there is no way I could see anywhere. Let us atleast remember that pain and loss. Oneday for sure we will wake up.
Great post Anu, I appreciate your deep thoughts and your lovely writing.

"Peace is violent" Ingenuous!
Well-articulated feelings...I have been to Mumbai just once...but share your love for the city...26/11 thus trebly appalls and offends...as a lover of the Maximum City...as an Indian...and as a human being.
May better sense prevail.
You have prettified a complex incident.
Your 'disillusionment'--fueled by the collective ranting of Dr Roy, Dr Dutt, Dr Sardesai and other bourgeois symbols of power--is justified.
But do you ever stop to think why 19-year-old boys would do such things?
With due respect, please get some perspective.
Anukriti,
You do not know me. I work in your Dad's office. No writing has affected me the way yours has today. I have found one more reason to lose sleep tonight. Good thoughts, good style of writing. But pain need not bring in bitterness. Be like a diamond. I know you will rise like a phoenix from the ashes.
With lots of blessings,
Kavitha Raju, Mumbai.

very nice one
@MIG
Thank you :)
A very soulful and moving poem with profound truth. So much of blood spattered for what??
Very profound words, and a stimulating discussion. It is essential that we try and identify the Kasab within each one of us, the one who seeks therapy in songs like Kolaveri di. It is essential we work towards making our selves citadels of love, peace and harmony so that such incidents dont ever take place. I know the anger and the rage that comes with such incidents, but that is precisely the objective of such acts. If we give in to that hatred and venom, the terrorists have won.
Spine-chilling and soul stirring. We stand mute at the senseless tragedy and the royal hospitality the killer is enjoying.
every God is lost and dead, what a phrase to stop the pen. hell a lot of research and quality time has gone into it. a real tribute, must say.
That was a tragic event indeed. Yet another man-made tragedy. Man and god together - great destroyers!
This is a very realistic post. a true tribute to the most inhumane act ever did by a man. perfect writing...
A perfect Elegy , A perfect Tribute , very well written..................
"Sad it is ,to loose these people who were innocent...
The blazing bullets from their guns seemed incessant........
But let us resolve to bring justice to does unfortunate....
Kill does bastard who dared to Perpetrate.........."

The ugly face of terrorism and the spirited resurrection of the Mumbaikars is well portrayed in this poem. Hats off to your noble creation!!!
From: www.sriramnivas.com
those verses spoke a lot...from the horrible events of a day to the reality that we choose upon and face upon in life....i love your works...here particularly i loved it more...read through those verses many a time
best tribute to these heroes will be.....
1] hang kasab naked in front of Taj hotel.
2]burn pictures of 10 those islamists terrorists every sunday infront of trident-oberoi.
3] send filthy, hate letters to families of those 10 Islamic Pakistani terrorists
A grim refresher of the gory hours, morbid animals and the slain lambs and martyrs. Sadly, humans never learn.
Excellent poem. Very poignant.
best tribute to these heroes
